IBM completes orange tracking pilot on the blockchain

IBM has completed a pilot involving tracking a shipment of oranges on the blockchain, The Block reports. In particular, it was the bill of lading for 3000 oranges that was processed on-chain. The advantage of this process is that it allows to process shipments faster, which can be vital for companies transporting perishable goods. This allowed the oranges to be delivered to the destination ahead of schedule.

It appears that IBM used its own permissioned blockchain for this trial but nothing prevents public blockchains like Ethereum for being used in the same manner.
